fMSX 3.1 for S60 3rd Edition Phones Released [freeware]
18 January 2007
fMSX 3.1; freeware MSX/MSX2/MSX2+
emulator for S60 3rd ed phones
fMSXMarat Fayzullin has released fMSX 3.1, freeware MSX/MSX2/MSX2+ emulator for Symbian S60 Smartphones 3rd Edition.

We've already wrote about his Virtual GameBoy Advance emulator and fMSX is just another addition in his freeware portfolio.

fMSX is a portable emulator of MSX, MSX2, and MSX2+ home computers, being developed since 1993. There are ports available for Windows, MSDOS, Symbian, MacOS, Unix, and many other platforms.
As far as we know there is already an fMSX port to S60 made by Juha Riihimaki, but this is a geniune port, based on the latest fMSX core and the same Marat’s S60 framework that is used on other emulators from this developer.
fMSX isn’t compatible with 1st or 2nd edition phones and will work only on Nokia Series 60 3rd Edition devices, such as 3250, 5500, N71, N72, N73, N80, N93, E60, E61, E70, and others.
fMSX will run MSX, MSX2, and MSX2+ cartridge .rom files and .dskdisk image files. Place your files into E:\Others\fMSX. Control keys:
  • [SEND] opens the application menu.
  • [END] quits the emulator.
  • Directional pad works as both joystick and cursor keys.
  • [2][4][5][6][8] duplicate joystick directional buttons.
  • [9][*] act as joystick fire button A.
  • [7][#] act as joystick fire button B.
  • [OK] acts as ENTER key.
  • [*] acts as SPACE key.
  • [#] acts as GRAPH key.
  • [SOFT1] fast-forwards emulation.
  • [SOFT2] invokes built-in control menu.
  • [&larr][C] toggle sound playback.
  • On Nokia E61, the blue [FUNC] key in the corner toggles between the dialpad and alphabetic modes.
