JW Player 5.3 Released - Introducing HTML5 Support

Dear JW Player Customer, HTML5 is here. And so is JW Player 5.3. Rather than force users to choose between Flash and HTML5, our approach has been to integrate both seamlessly into a single player. Instead of developing a separate HTML5 player, we've implemented HTML5 playback side-by-side with Flash playback. Read about the thinking behind JW5.3; feature highlights include: Embed Auto-Detection — Use the JW Embedder to tell the player whether you prefer Flash or HTML5; it will auto-detect what the user's browser/device supports and choose the best playback mode. Consistent Skinning Model — Create an XML/PNG skin and use it in both Flash and HTML5 modes for consistent styling across browsers/devices. Unified JavaScript API — Integrate the player into your site with the new JavaScript API to provide a single cross-platform experience HTML5 Support for Streaming We are firm proponents of HTML5, and have begun investing heavily in it. Not only are we building support into the JW Player, but we have been working actively with other organizations and industry bodies to help push the specification forward.
